Children 5 years of age and older are recommended to get a COVID-19 vaccination. The vaccine approved for children 5 years of age and older is Pfizer-BioNTech.

Moderna and J&J vaccines are not yet approved to be administered for ages 5-17 years old.

The Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are expected to provide some protection a couple of weeks after your first shot and reaches its greatest effectiveness after your second shot. It is very important to take the second shot within the recommended time period for maximum vaccine effectiveness. The Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine is effective 14 days after vaccination.
