We may bill an administration fee to your insurance and that will be accepted as full payment. There will be no charge to the individual. THIRD DOSE / ADDITIONAL DOSE (IMMUNOCOMPROMISED INDIVIDUALS, AT LEAST 28 DAYS AFTER PRIMARY SERIES):
Currently, CDC is recommending that moderately to severely immunocompromised people receive an additional dose. This includes people who have:
• Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood
• Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
• Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system
• Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)
• Advanced or untreated HIV infection
• Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response
An additional dose intended to improve an immunocompromised person’s response to their initial vaccine series is not the same as a booster dose. Third doses/additional doses for immunocompromised persons must be at least 28 days after the second dose. The same product that was used for the primary regimen should be used for the third dose/additional dose.
Additional doses for immunocompromised persons have not been approved for Johnson & Johnson at this time. Those individuals should review options and timelines available for a booster dose after receiving a single-dose primary vaccination of Johnson & Johnson.
BOOSTER DOSE, ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUALS:
At Least 6 Months After a Primary Series of Pfizer or Moderna
At Least 2 Months After a Single-Dose Primary Vaccination of Johnson & Johnson
Booster doses are given to people when the immune response to a primary vaccine series is likely to have waned (or weakened) over time. The same product that was used for the primary regimen should be used for the booster dose. However, a mix-and-match approach has also been authorized. If the same product is not available or another product is preferred, mix-and-matching is allowable for the booster dose.
For individuals that received Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine as their primary series, CDC recommends:
• people 65 years and older and residents in long-term care settings should receive a booster,
• people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster,
• people aged 18–49 years with underlying medical conditions may receive a booster, based on their individual benefits and risks, and
• people aged 18-64 years who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission because of occupational or institutional setting may receive a booster, based on their individual benefits and risks.
For individuals who received Johnson & Johnson, booster shots are recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago.
